Pegeia Municipality

Beaches

Pegeia is surrounded by the sea and so is naturally known for its fabulous beaches.

Coral Bay

The well-known beach of Coral Bay is the jewel in Pegeia’s crown. This beach is considered to be the best in the province of Paphos. The fact that it is positioned in this particular cape is fortunate; the waters are always calm and this allows for safe, danger-free swimming. This is probably the reason why around 2000 bathers, locals and visitors choose Coral Bay for their summer holiday.

It’s worth noting that the beach at Coral Bay has until now been awarded the Blue Flag nine times. This means that it meets the standards for swimming waters, coastline cleanliness, hygiene areas, safety of bathers, information and environmental education. The beach has two café huts, which also have locker rooms with showers as well as disabled toilets. There are two beach volley courts for sports enthusiasts, while there are also various water sports such as jet skiing, pedalos etc. Swimmers can also make use of the umbrellas and sunbeds and relax under the watchful eye of the experienced lifeguards. In recent years, the Coral Bay area has been hugely developed. There are now tavernas, bars and other recreational areas, as well as hotels that were built with a view to respecting the environment.

Lara Beach

This beach is perfect for those looking for a relaxing, peaceful environment. It is mainly favoured by families and welcomes around 1000 bathers during the summer months. Thanks to its uniqueness, it was awarded with the Blue Flag 10 times consecutively. The beach has umbrellas, sunbeds and lifeguards, as well as all relevant additional services.

Other Beaches

Other beaches that can be found in the Pegeia area are the one in Keratidi, the beach in the Maniki area, one in the Sea Caves and one in Agios Georgios of Pegeia, near the fishing port. Furthermore, along Pegeia’s coastal frontline there are beaches and little bays that are impressively, unusually beautiful and attract those who love peaceful beaches.

Sea Caves – Kantarkasti

The fabulous view of the shore’s geological morphations is probably the only one of its kind in Cyprus. Deep caves on land – ripped open by the insatiable waves of the sea – small islets and rocks characterize the scenery. It was in these caves that seals would escape and breed, which is why the area is known as that of the Seal Caves.

Cycle lane

There is a cycle lane in Pegeia that links the Coral Bay area with Agios Georgios, and goes along Agios Georgios avenue. It gives not only sports enthusiasts, but also sightseers the chance to take in the beautiful greenery on their journey.
